I’m an editor and strategist helping teams build products, processes, and editorial magic.

As an editorial leader with 10 years of experience at PBS NewsHour, HuffPost, CNN, and All Turtles, I have a curious and critical approach to content and product design that makes space for complexity and understanding.

Most recently I was an editorial director at All Turtles, where I launched Sift News Therapy and helped early-stage products with content design.

I can help with:

Content design/UX writing, product development, workshop facilitation, writing/editing, audience engagement, and editorial leadership

I’m at my best when:

Asking big questions and collaboratively designing new futures

Sift is a data-driven, interactive news app that unpacks climate change, education, media literacy, gun control & regulation, healthcare, and immigration.

Role: Editorial director
Date: 2018-2019 (prototype + six-month sprint)
Collaborators: Design director, engineer, UX writer
Challenge: More people are stressed out by the news. How might we create a news experience that’s mindful of people’s anxieties and challenge confirmation bias?
Outcome: I managed a team of editors, writers, and fact-checkers to publish 12 in-depth explainers to provide historical context, check assumptions, and propose solutions. I also collaborated with designers and engineers to create an in-house content management system, data visualization templates, and publishing process.
Notable features: Inline and annotated citations, glossary cards, mini-quizzes.

Spot is an anonymous harassment and discrimination reporting and training tool for workplaces.

Role: Lead writer/editor
Date: 2019 (three-month sprint)
Collaborators: UX designer, illustrator, engineer, CEO, UX writers, project manager
Challenge: More states are legally mandating anti-sexual harassment training for workplaces. But most compulsory trainings are often boring, outdated, or, worse, not taken seriously. How might we create an engaging curriculum that is empathetic to both potential victims and harassers to create a culture of safety?
Outcome: I helped write, edit, and project manage 12 10-minute episodes of training for employees and supervisors on unwelcome conduct, gender & sexual identity, psychological safety, reporting options, and more. I also worked with a legal advisor to meet legal requirements and accuracy.
Notable features: Interactive quizzes, illustrated character-driven stories, definition cards.
